Future Perfect
September 7 - October 20 at ROBERT BERMAN GALLERY
Future Perfect is a group show consisting of six artists showcasing varying components of the unification of art and science. The first component is Hell.com created by Kenneth Aronson. Aronson created Hell.com at the emergence of www, a controversial art website that was seminal to web and art use. A so-called “internet speakeasy” accessible to a select group of people where creative digital art remained on the internet hidden from the general public. Our second artist, Mark C. Estes’ Standard Random Digitalization uses 20th century tech in a 21st century way by using an algorithmic program that creates spontaneous computer-generated art that never repeats. The third artist, Herry Kim, a young Korean artist who explores virtual and actual reality, computer-generated imagery, and artificial intelligence through world-building. Interested in artistic possibilities and cultural implications of ever-evolving technologies, her transmedia practice involves building 3D assets, interaction design, and research. Artist Agnieszka Pilat explores the use of machines and the technology of self-rendering programs within robotics in the fine-arts world. Also featured will be artist Kate Johnson who is an Emmy-Award winning filmmaker, as an artist she created internationally exhibited and critically acclaimed works in a variety of media and genres, exploring the nexus and logical synchronicities between art, anthropology, technology and social justice. The final installment in the exhibition is UK artist Jeremy Kidd, a multidisciplinary artist making sculpture, photographs and videos. Combined, these artists represent how art has merged with science over decades and will continue to transform art, while still paying homage to the oldest union of science and art.
The ‘Future Perfect’ show at ROBERT BERMAN GALLERY is a part of the DNA Festival, as well as The Getty’s PST: ‘Art & Science Collide’ program.
